Stay out of jail — wear that button!

This year the ‘89er Committee is continuing one of the favorite  traditions of past ‘89er Celebrations —- jail time for not wearing “The Button”. 

Guess who’s coming to the ‘89er Celebration?

Lester Lurk, a farmer from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri was visiting a venue in Branson a number of years ago and stuck up a conversation with a couple seated next to him.  After a few remarks the lady said, “You know you could get up on that stage right now and everybody would think you are Will Rogers.”  And as they say —- the rest is history.

First Christian Church set for Mission Sunday 2015

Mission Sunday 2015 kicks off this Sunday and again features churches across Guthrie working together to do projects that better the community. Mission Sunday features the theme “One Sunday. One Mission” and began four years ago as a project of First Christian Church and expanded to a community-wide event last year with more than 250 people participating.

The following actions were filed in the District Court of Logan County for April 6, 2015.

District One: Missing inventory items reported to Board of Commissioners

New citizen participation in local government. After our town hall meeting last week we had several folks sign up to be on our new finance, road and safety committees. Our first meeting of the road and safety committees will be scheduled later this month and the finance committee will meet next month to start the new (FY 2016) budget planning process. 

Logan County receives first sales tax collection since voters approved tax in August

Logan County received the first payment from the Oklahoma Tax Commission after voters approved the three-fourths county sales tax in August 2014.
