Three judges had the daunting task of somehow finding a winner in the Pumpkin Storybook Character contest at Central Elementary. In the process, first grade students learned about fall and pumpkins.

Deputies recover stolen property, drug operation; two arrested

Update Nov. 1, 2014 at 12 p.m. — Investigators continue to find additional stolen items in a stolen property and drug operation it the southern part of Logan County. The latest findings came from three safes.

When deputies opened up the safes they found 13 stolen firearms, 12 pounds of marijuana, $5,000 in cash, numerous boxes of ammunition and magazines and body armor plates.

Superintendent: “All in” with community and school district

I’ve had the pleasure of giving 16 presentations to various community members (and more to come) regarding the upcoming school bond election and what it will mean to students as well as taxpayers. Along the way, I’ve received many compliments for the presentation and the approach our district is taking toward improving our facilities. I’ve actually only had one “agree to disagree” conversation along the way (I’d consider that ratio a sign of support). Interestingly enough the subject was what the citizen perceived to be a statewide overemphasis on extra-curricular activities and actually had nothing to do with the items which will be considered in the election on November 4.

The Guthrie Noon Lions Club has recently donated $1,000 to the Territorial Capital Sports Museum to assist with their operation and expansion.
