City seeking sales tax election for July 14; increase to benefit capital projects

The Guthrie city council will likely seek a proposed sales tax election to registered voters for a half-cent sales tax increase that would benefit capital projects for the City, including such items as a ladder truck for the Guthrie Fire Department, upgrade and relocation of youth baseball and softball fields and beautification. The proposal may be in the hands of voters in the July 14 special election.

Business owners wanting to add liquor sales on Sundays and holidays

Logan County is one of 18 Oklahoma counties that restrict liquor by the drink on Sundays, but business owners are wanting to change that by allowing liquor sales to seven days a week. However, that Sunday afternoon drink may have to wait several more months.

County commissioner requests EMS board member to resign; EMS audit discussed

All parties with the Logan County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) and the Logan County Emergency Medical Services District (EMS) agreed the 2009-13 EMS audit should have been addressed before a joint  meeting was held. During the public meeting, a county commissioner asked the EMS Chairman to resign his post.

Guthrie BOE gives the go ahead to prepare school bond election for May 12

In a special Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education meeting, board members agreed to begin preparing for a May 12 school bond election. Highlighting the bond election will be addressing major building repairs and construction of a new elementary school in southern Logan County.
