Voters say yes to county tax and no to city sales tax

The votes were counted on Tuesday and it concluded with mix results for two sales tax propositions. Voters approved a three-fourths of one percent tax for Logan County. Meanwhile, City of Guthrie voters rejected a proposed one percent increase. Read more…

County jail being paid off early; officials hopeful for county sales tax

Logan County’s citizens may remember, in 2005, they passed a ten year sales tax proposition to fund the building, operation and maintenance of the new Detention Center over a period of ten years.  The termination of that sales tax is August 2015. Read more…

County sales tax decrease to be decided by voters

With the expiring county tax for the construction of the Logan County jail upcoming, the Board of County Commissioners voted 2-1 to call for an election to lower the current one percent county sales tax to three-fourths of one percent.

Burned body found in rural Logan County

UPDATE ON LOGAN COUNTY HOMICIDE VICTIM (Feb. 1 at 4:00 p.m.)

Victim TattoFrom the investigators. The victim is going to be in his 20’s to possibly early 30’s. 5’8 give or take a couple inches, has tatoo on right shoulder of bulls skull and seal of the Cherokee nation on upper right chest. Unknown weight. Assuming American Indian, but was probably lighter skinned.

The partial tattoo on the bottom is on the right shoulder. The Cherokees have a legend about the horned serpent called the Uktena Investigators believe that is part of the tattoo.

The Cherokee Nation Seal is on the chest of yesterday’s homicide victim.
