Superintendent: Student growth and current buildings is a goal of this bond issue

I began comparing our community and school district to others long before my family even moved to Guthrie. In fact, I researched Guthrie and our peer districts long before I applied for the job as Superintendent. What I found in the research was a school district with remarkable success in athletics and a community with potential for tremendous growth due to geography and existing transportation infrastructure. I also found a concerning history of failed bond issues. Many local opinions exist on why, including a large population of retired citizens as well as a relatively low average family income level.  Regardless of the ‘why’s’, I’ve said from the beginning that the importance a community places on education is directly reflected in the condition of its school buildings.   

Deadline to request absentee ballots approaches

Registered voters in Logan County who want to vote by mail absentee ballot in Tuesday’s Guthrie School District and Cashion School District, Special School Election have until this Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. to request one, County Election Board Secretary Erin Dorio said today.

Early Voting Begins on Thursday, May 7

Now, early voting begins on Thursday and continues on Friday, Logan County Election Board Secretary Erin Dorio said today. Of special note, early voting is no longer conducted on Monday.

Voters should apply early for absentee ballots

Voters in Logan County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the May 12^th Guthrie School District and Cashion School District, Special School Election should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Erin Dorio said today. Although the County Election Board can accept applications for absentee ballots until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, Dorio urged voters who want to vote by absentee ballot to apply early.

Voter registration deadline is April 17 for Guthrie school bond election

Friday, April 17, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the May 12  Guthrie School District and Cashion School District, Special School Election, Logan County Election Board Secretary Erin Dorio said today.

Candidates file for Guthrie city council and mayor positions; election set for April 7

Seven candidates have put their names in for the city-wide Guthrie city council and mayor election. One ward will not have a race for the April 7 election after having only one candidate file.

Calculating the impact of the 90 million dollar Edmond bond issue‏

A property’s taxable value is 11% of its assessed value thus the taxable value of a $200,000 home is $22,000. The value adjusts downward to $21,000 if the taxpayer claims his $1,000 homestead exemption.
