Guthrie Fire Department reminds residents to ‘Prevent Kitchen Fires’

It’s time for Fire Prevention Week, and from October 6-12 Guthrie Fire Department is joining forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to remind local residents to ‘Prevent Kitchen Fires.’ During this year’s fire safety campaign, fire departments will be spreading the word about the dangers of kitchen fires–most of which result from unattended cooking—and teaching local residents how to prevent kitchen fires from starting in the first place.

Logan County Health Department announces flu vaccination clinics

The Logan County Health Department announced its seasonal influenza vaccination clinic schedule for the upcoming flu season. Clinics will begin on October 7, 2013, according to Logan County Health Department Administrative Director Jay Smith.

Chamber Chat: 3,082 wristbands sold for downtown festival

Hello! I have some numbers in from the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Tour; Three thousand eighty-two wristbands were sold to get into the downtown area. Over twenty-nine thousand people bought tickets to the festival with one thousand fifty-six volunteers putting in over nine thousand one hundred seventy-eight hours.

The 5:40 Waterloo Road Flash Mob

These readers are part of the flash mob which suddenly forms on the Waterloo Road off-ramp at 5:40 p.m. each work day. Vehicles overflow the long exit ramp and traffic backs up into the interstate, thus creating an extremely dangerous traffic situation.
