Local church helps Backpack Program students with stockings

Bookmark and Share

Members of the First Christian Church and community have come together to help 100 students, in the Guthrie school system through the BackPack Program, during the Christmas time celebration.

Back Pack ChristmasOrganizers at the church stuffed over 100 stockings to distribute throughout the week so that all the students in the program can go home for the holidays with holiday cheer.

Families from the church and community choose an age, gender and filled the stocking without even knowing the names of the kids for whom will receive them.

There are children in America that rely on resources such as free or reduced-priced school lunch during the school year. The BackPack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
