District 2 Update: The first bridge of its kind in Logan County‏

Progress continues on the University Bridge east of Midwest. A temporary low water crossing has been built, the old bridge torn out and dirt excavated where the new structure will be placed. Forms to create keyways in the concrete footings for new bridge legs have been constructed. If the weather cooperates, next week ditches will be dug and rebar placed for the footings. Scurlock Industries was awarded the bid for the new bridge. It will be a pre-cast, reinforced concrete,
three-sided structure. Scurlock is in the process of completing five sections which will form the bridge. We are hoping for delivery and placement of the sections during mid-January. Read more…

State and Federal funding enable major improvements in county infrastructure

I have mentioned in the past that without state and federal funding sources, it would be difficult for the county to make major road and bridge improvements. This is because currently each commissioner district receives an average of only $214.00 per month per mile for maintenance of the county highway system. Read more…
