40 million dollars of savings and counting

Oklahoma taxpayers received some great news as part of a recently released report from Oklahoma State Chief Information Officer Alex Pettit. During the last legislative interim, the Government Modernization Committee was told the state’s information technology consolidation plan allowed taxpayer to realize 30 million dollars of savings each year. CIO Pettit’s latest report has upgraded that estimate to 40 million dollars. He will testify to this effect next month before a Government Modernization hearing.

Who will pay for higher education in the future?

Last week I described the future model of higher education as being mostly free to use. This begs the obvious question. Who will pay for this education? After all, nothing is really free.

District 1: What have we been up to?

It is a practice in the District 1 office that employees document their activities each day as they return from various work sites. Not only does this documentation indicate that county employees have been working for you but the information has proven helpful in seeking
reimbursement for emergency repairs through state and federal programs.

Chamber Chat: Chamber spreading the word about Guthrie

Here are a few highlights of what we are doing to promote Guthrie for the rest of the year and into 2013. We have a  tile ad on the front page of the  Central Oklahoma Tourism website from this past July through June of 2013. Every month the ad will be different and geared towards an event or festival for that month.

United Way of Logan County Pacesetters blaze the trail

One of the special elements of the United Way of Logan County campaign each year is the establishment of a small group of businesses and organizations which start their campaign in July/August just ahead of the regular campaign.
