Troubled OSU player arrested in Logan County

Troubled former Oklahoma State basketball player Byron Houston has found himself in trouble with the law again. This time in Logan County.

Houston, who was a first round NBA selection to the Chicago Bulls in 1992, is being charged with one count to cruelty to animals. The case has been filed in the district court of Logan County.

In June 2006, Houston, 41, was removed from a children’s basketball camp in Oklahoma because he was registered as a sex offender in that state. He pleaded guilty to indecent exposure charges in 2003.

On June 13, 2007, Houston was arrested on counts of indecent exposure, engaging in a lewd act and driving with a canceled license. On September 16, 2007, he was sentenced to four years in prison for violating probation stemming from this offense. Defense witnesses have claimed that Houston suffers from bipolar disorder and other conditions.

Houston is Oklahoma State University’s all-time leading scorer (2,379) and was a standout player at Oklahoma City’s Star Spencer High School.
