The Board of Education for Guthrie Public Schools welcomed their newest member at Thursday evening’s school board special meeting. Afterwards, the board members selected their new seats.

Tina Smedley took her oath of office in front of the United States flag inside the meeting room of the GPS Administration Building. Smedley sits in the Ward 5 seat after running opposed in the last election.

Following the oath, four of the five seats were voted unanimously (7-0), including Terry Pennington as President, Travis Sallee (2nd Vice President), Jennifer Bennett-Johnson as Clerk and Smedley as Deputy Clerk.

Gail Davis was selected Vice President with a 6-1 vote with Sharon Watts casting the lone no vote.
