Howdy folks! I can’t believe we are already in December. We held our Chamber Coffee at the Guthrie Job Corps Center where we had a delightful breakfast prepared by the culinary students. They offer Health Care, Office Administration, Computer Technician, Culinary Arts, Carpentry, Plumbing, Facilities Maintenance, Welding, Electrical House Wiring and Security classes. I learned today that you don’t have to live on center to participate in the program! The Job Corps is a federally Funded Career Training Program for eligible young men and women, ages 16-25. Students receive, at no cost to them, room and board, basic health and dental care, recreation, social and career counseling and job placement services. Students enrolled in Job Corps Programs earn a bi-weekly living allowance and other incentives. Read more…

“Don’t try this at home.” Those are the words of warning I remember when watching the Wide World of Sports as a youngster. The occasion was Evil Knievel attempting to jump another expanse of something on his motorcycle. We were warned but what did we do when we went outside with our bikes…yes that’s right. We immediately tried to simulate the daredevil’s act of bravery. Fortunately, none of my acts required a trip to the hospital and seldom was it worse than a skinned-up knee. Read more…
