Sen. Griffin sworn in, continues legislative service

Sen. AJ Griffin has been sworn in as a member of the 55th Legislature.  Facing no other candidates in the November election, Griffin, R-Guthrie, was automatically re-elected to the District 20 seat by a decisive margin after winning the Republican Primary in June.  Griffin’s friends and family looked on as she took the oath of office during a ceremony at the Capitol on Tuesday. Thanksgiving Day trash pickup for Guthrie residents

Pickup for City of Guthrie trash customers with regular trash collection on Thursday will have their trash collected for the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 24 thru 28) on Saturday, November 29 rather than on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27).

You’re encouraged to have your trash cans out for collection before 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Rural water district awarded $1.28 million from Guthrie; appeal upcoming?

A federal jury found judgment in favor of Rural Water District #1 over the City of Guthrie in a 10-plus year dispute. The water district was awarded $1.28 million in damages. However, with an expected appeal by the Guthrie city council, the court system will continue to hear the case. Read more…

Noble Avenue Baptist Church held a Chili Challenge to help Cotteral Elementary’s clothing closet. The benefit scored hundreds of dollars for the program. Read more…
