The Library is pleased to announce they have again partnered with the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative, a part of the University of Oklahoma’s Health Science Center, to offer a wellness program for Guthrie and Logan County residents.

Guthrie LibraryThe Diabetes Self Management Program is designed for individuals of all ages or caregivers who are dealing with Type 2 diabetes.  Through the course of the program, participants will learn about valuable tools to manage the symptoms of diabetes, hyper/hypoglycemia, sleeplessness, pain, fatigue and depression.

Strategies for making informed treatment decisions, communicating with your doctor and caregivers, relaxation skills and much more will also be covered. This evidence-based program, developed by the Stanford School of Medicine, utilizes information and tools that are rooted in published research and proven results.

“Guthrie Public Library has had the privilege of offering several Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative programs in the past and we are thrilled to be working with OHAI again. These programs are so beneficial to people coping with health-related concerns and we are thankful for the opportunity to help,” said Cyndi O, Library Director.

The 6-week program will be held on Tuesdays, beginning on October 7th, from 1 pm – 3:30 pm with a 20 minute break. Space is limited so please call the library at 405-282-0050 or email co@cityofguthrie.com to reserve your seat today.
