OKLAHOMA CITY – Rural Water District #2 (RWD #2) in Logan County has been awarded a nearly $140,000 grant for much needed water system improvements, according to Sen. AJ Griffin and Rep. Dale DeWitt.

Guthrie News PageThe Oklahoma Department of Commerce/ Office of Community Development awarded the Community Development Block Grant in the Water and Wastewater Construction category. RWD #2 also provided matching funds of approximately $140,000. Funds will be used for the construction of a chemical application facility with bulk storage, pumps, controls, and all appurtenances.

Griffin (R-Guthrie) said the grant helps eligible cities, towns, and counties with improvements that have been identified in their Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan takes into consideration the goals and needs specific to the community and helps improve the quality of life for residents.

DeWitt (R-Braman) says each year the Oklahoma Department of Commerce makes CDBG funds available to eligible incorporated towns, cities and counties. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through a competitive grant process that utilizes an established set of threshold and rating criteria all applicants must meet.

The project will benefit 830 residents.
