The Guthrie city council and workshop scheduled meetings were canceled Tuesday evening after there were not enough council members to form a quorum.

Guthrie City HallMayor Mark Spradlin made the announcement on the third floor of City Hall, that there would not be a meeting due to only two members being present.

Mayor Spradlin, along with Vice-Mayor John Wood, were present.

In order for a quorum to be in order, four members must be present.

The mayor went on to say that one councilman was out of the country, two were out-of-state and two others were working. Absent from the meeting was Trey Ayers, Mary Coffin, Jeff Taylor, Z Thomas and Sharyl Padgett.

“Nothing that was scheduled or pre-seen or anything else,” Spradlin said in the announcement.

Mayor Spradlin thanked everyone in the audience, who came to discuss an item in the workshop, and apologized that they would have to come back at the next meeting (Sept. 16).

Moments later, Mayor Spradlin read a letter from council member Coffin announcing her resignation from the council. Related storyCouncil member resigns post
