Investigation closed: No evidence to confirm dog was dragged behind vehicle

Update July 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. — The investigation of the injured dog from on July 1, at Simpson and Western has been closed.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the veterinarian was not able to positively say what caused the injury. The investigators state that no one has positively stated that they witnessed the dog being dragged.

A brave little dog is lucky to be alive after being seen dragged by a vehicle early Tuesday morning. Now, law enforcement is on the look out for the driver.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle dragging a dog at around 8:30 a.m. near the area of Santa Fe and Simpson in southern Logan County.

Dog AbuseThe dog was tended and taken to Free to Live, a non-profit sanctuary for stray, abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats. It is the largest no-kill sanctuary in Oklahoma.

According to television reports, a nearby construction crew witness the incident and took the dog to the animal sanctuary for treatment.

Deputies are searching for a white male driving an older dark blue, purple Jeep Cherokee.

The vehicle was again spotted around noon time in the same area leading officials to believe the driver lives locally.
