OKLAHOMA CITY – State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) made sure that he was representing House District 31 citizens by being present to vote in 959 out of 965 roll call votes or %99.4 of the time during the recently concluded 2014 legislative session and 71 out of 71 votes in the preceding special session. During the eight-year time frame since being elected to office, Murphey voted in 10,148 out of 10,211 roll call votes, or 99.4% of the time.

“One of my goals has been to be present for as many roll call votes as possible. I want to demonstrate to the voters that I am taking their trust seriously and working hard on their behalf,” Murphey said.

Murphey also explained his policy of never “walking” or intentionally missing a vote. Some legislators sometimes walk off the floor in order to avoid casting a tough vote. When legislators walk a vote their constituents are unable to hold them accountable for that vote.

To date Murphey has maintained an eight year perfect attendance record by never missing a day of session since being elected in 2006.
