Chamber Chat: Bed & Breakfast Association to host tours

Hi there! We have a busy month ahead of us, lots of activities going on in Guthrie! If you are looking for some things to do this Saturday, April 5: The Territorial Riders are at it again… having fun while fundraising. They have a Poker Run in the morning to raise money for Special Olympics! You don’t have to own a motorcycle to participate, for information go to http://www.territorialriders.com.

Saturday evening you are invited to join the Guthrie Christian Church, 1802 W. Noble, for their Free Fish Fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Ducks Unlimited is having their State Convention this Saturday; they will have an Expo at the Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. which is free to the public. They are also having a fundraiser banquet at the American Legion at 6 p.m.; ticket price includes a year membership. Contact Tim Miller at 405-593-2657 for more information.

I am going to give you a heads up about some things going on next weekend; The B&B Association is having a self guided tour from noon to 4. The cost is $10 for a single, $15 per couple. Beverages and hor d’oeuvres will be available. The B&B’s participating in the tour; Addison Suites, Keepsake Kottage, Pembroke Cottage, Rosa Bella, Jaded Getaway, Suite Bettie Jean and Red Stone Country Inn.

This is the 125th Anniversary of the 89er Celebration with the theme “The Great Race”. Window decorating entries are to be submitted by the 7th of April and judging will be conducted the 11th through the 13th. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Chuck Wagon Feed on Tuesday, April 15th at the Logan County Fairgrounds. The Carnival, Arts, Crafts and Food moves into town on Wednesday the 16th. There are three activities on Thursday; Old Timer’s Baseball Classic at 5pm in Squire’s Field, GHS High School Band Concert on the Post Office lawn from 6pm to 7pm and a free family- friendly sports movie at the Territorial Capital Sports Museum at 315 W. Oklahoma. There are four events on Oklahoma Avenue Friday; Big Wheel Races for Youth, Geezers, Gassers & Hogs Classic Cars and Motorcycles. A Street Dance featuring “The Infidel’s” and “Badlands”. The Rodeo begins Friday and runs through Saturday evenings at the Fairgrounds arena from 7pm to 11pm. Saturday the morning starts off with the Stake Your Claim 5K and 1K Run right on Oklahoma Avenue, the Parade begins at noon with Governor Mary Fallin as the Parades Grand Marshal. Finish up your evening at an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance featuring “ The Backstage Musicians” at the American Legion located at 123 N. 1st Street from 7:30 to 11pm. This week’s Chamber Coffee is hosted by Prairie Gothic located at 118 S. Second!
