One killed and one airlifted with crash on I-35
One person was killed and another victim was airlifted to a Oklahoma City hospital Tuesday evening on I-35 following a two-vehicle accident.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Guthrie Fire Department were dispatched to the interstate’s mile marker 154 just after 8 p.m. The accident occurred in the southbound lanes.
Guthrie News Page confirmed with multiple sources that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
The other victim, a 21-year-old male, was responding to firefighters and was flown from the scene. The highway was shut down for several minutes to allow the helicopter to land.
According to law enforcement, a vehicle with three people in it were parked along side the highway after their engine started to smoke. One person got out and got under the truck to survey the issue when another truck struck the vehicle.
The person airlifted was in the vehicle that smashed into the disabled car.
