Reserve academy graduates; ceremony set for Friday

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Reserve Peace Officer Academy through the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. The department has publicized several notable milestones of this academy since they started back on December 3.

Badge“We are happy to announce that the class has concluded with all 18 eligible students passing their final exams on May 20th,” Captain Richard Stephens said.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Guthrie Police Department have several new Reserve Deputies and Police Officers who will be graduating at this ceremony. There are deputies and officers from other law enforcement agencies from as far away as Major County Oklahoma, Glencoe, Canadian County, Langston, Noble County, and others.

The students will graduate from the Academy this Friday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the American Legion Hall located at 1st and Cleveland in Guthrie. Leadership from many area law enforcement agencies attending.

The graduates have completed hundreds of hours of classroom training, defensive tactics training, firearms training, crime scene investigations, accident investigations, community policing, and cultural diversity training. This has been a long and difficult class, these deputies and officers, their families, and their agencies have a lot to be proud of.
