A driver led Oklahoma City police officers on a high-speed pursuit near 122nd street in Oklahoma City on Wednesday afternoon that ended in Guthrie.

Chase OKC PDOfficers attempted to pull over a male driver driving a blue, Chevrolet Cruze with a Minnesota license tag, but instead took officers on a chase with speeds easily going over 100 m.p.h.

According to law enforcement, officers were set up at the Guthrie exit (mile marker 157) when the suspect took the exit towards Guthrie.

Officers wanted to use stop sticks on a few occasions, but due to high traffic in the area could not deploy them.

Once the suspect hit city limits he was held up by traffic and decided to surrender by entering Petty’s Pit stop convenience store where he was taken into custody. Multiple agencies including, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma City Police, Oklahoma County, Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Guthrie Police Department were all on the scene once the pursuit ended.

One person tells Guthrie News Page they were nearly ran over in the pursuit. The witness went on to say the speeds had to be around 70 mph through the town’s 35 mph speed limit.

It is uncertain at this time why the driver took off, but officers were later seen on the highway in Edmond searching on the side of the highway.

No injuries were reported.
