Fall season brings increase in windshield glare

Driving experts are offering advice to a glaring problem with the fall season now here.

The National Weather Service in Norman is warning drivers of the increased danger of windshield glare posed by rush-hour sunrises and sunsets.

The risk of motor vehicle accidents increase due to the alignment of the rising and setting sun, according to the weather service.

Sunrises are currently around 7:20 a.m. and sunset is around 7:25 p.m. The Weather Service warned the most dangerous time for drivers is within the first 15 minutes of sunrise or sunset.

The weather service offers these tips on dealing with windshield glare:

– make sure windshield is clean on both inside and out
– check your wiper blades for wear and replace if worn
– slow down, and follow at a safe distance
