A mayor on a roof, delicious dining and a big breakfast kickoff. It’s all part of Logan County’s celebration of “March is Red Cross Month” and the annual Heroes campaign.

Next week, Guthrie Mayor Chuck Burtcher will “Raise the Roof” at Guthrie Vision Source to help raise money for Red CrossMayor Burtcher will be on the roof – around the clock – from March 15th to March 17th. On Friday, March 16th, you are invited to the “Raise the Roof” Cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Harrison and Division. Burgers, chips, cookies, hotdogs and soda drinks will be for sale. If you would like your order to be delivered, call it in Thursday, March 15th to 405-282-1194.

Join us for Guthrie’s 5th annual Taste of the Town March 27th at the Dominion House (602 East College) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This event will feature the best local cuisine from the Dominion House, Boneyard Grill, Guthrie Job Corps Culinary Arts, Stables Café, Roma’s Italian Restaurant, The Victorian Tea Room, Heavenly Cakes n Sweets, Gages Steak House, Meridian Technology and Rick’s Fine Chocolates. Plus – bid on great auction items and taste a variety of wines. Entertainment will be provided by guitarist Lisa Curl and is sponsored by Dr. Dawn’s Chiropractic and TriLink. Tickets can be purchased online at www.okc.redcross.org.

We also appreciate many other groups and organizations raising money for us this month including Central Elementary and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools. Both are conducting a penny drive to help raise funds. Shelton’s Photography and Design has agreed to donate a portion of all session fees this month to Red Cross. Also, firefighters from several area fire departments will be at the corner of Harrison and Division from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17th to collect money.
