Langston Police Deputy facing bribery charge

Bookmark and Share

The Langston Deputy Chief of Police has found himself in trouble, again, on the other side of the law.

Trustee Alicia Sumlin, Mayor Blayne Hinds and Trustee Alonzo Peterson discuss the agenda in October 2011.

Paul Otis Bush, 41, is facing one felony count for receiving bribes while in the capacity as the Langston Deputy Chief of Police.

Bush turned himself in on Tuesday and was booked in the Logan County jail. He posted bond and was released.

Bush’s attorney said he has been placed on on paid leave.

Bush is alleged to have agreed to receive and did receive money in exchange for making David Lewis Henry a Reserve Officer with the Langston Police Department in around the 14th day of February 2010. On February 14, 2o10, paperwork was filled out by Bush making Henry a Reserve Officer with the police department.

It is not being told how much money was involved in the  probable cause affidavit, but according to investigators, Bush was planning on buying a rifle with the money.

If convicted, Bush could face imprisonment up to five (5) years in the State Penitentiary or one (1) year in the county jail or a fine up to $5,000 or both.

In addition, Bush (04-29-1970) would have to forfeit his office, be forever disqualified to hold any public office, trust, or appointment under the laws of Oklahoma.

In October of 2010, Bush along with Police Chief Jeffery Jenkins were both placed on suspension with pay. Bush, who was reinstated a week later by the Langston City Council, was arrested  in September 2011 in Lincoln County when he failed to appear in court for a speeding ticket (76 in a 55 m.ph. zone) in 1995.

I think the Mayer and his Council should be fired because they’re all crooks and investigate Langston University “Chief Stor” .

I am married to David Henry. We have been separated for over 2 years. It doesn’t surprise me that he bribed his way onto the force. I think both men should be charged in the bribery case.
