Wrecks pile up in Guthrie on Friday

The Guthrie Emergency Medical Service was busy Friday with three separate car accidents.

Two of the three wrecks occurred on Highway 33 before 7 a.m.

The first vehicle accident was reported at 5:34 a.m. on Highway 33 near Cimarron National Golf Course. The two-vehicle accident sent one person to Mercy Health Logan County with a head injury while the other driver refused treatment on the scene.

The next call came in at 6:45 a.m. and upon arrival EMS had a vehicle roll over on Hwy 33 near Anderson Road. The driver refused treatment on the scene.

The third vehicle accident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. when a black GMC Envoy rear ended a Chevrolet Big 10 truck near 2900 South Division as it was attempting to make a left turn.

Both drivers were transported to Mercy Health with broken bones and other injuries.

According to witnesses who saw the accident, the impact of the wreck tossed tools and other items that was in the back of the truck and onto the street as the truck was picked off the road and tossed onto the side of the road. City crews arrived to clean the debris.

After the collision, the black SUV traveled another 200-300 yards down the road after the driver was unable to stop the vehicle due to injuries she suffered to her legs.

Traffic was stopped while Guthrie Police survey the scene and crews were able to clear off the road.

On Wednesday, EMS transported three school children to the hosptial for minor injuries after a Guthrie school bus was rear ended by a white F-250 truck near the intersection of Wentz and Noble.
