Old time cooking highlighted at ‘89er Celebration

Dutch Oven Cooking has been around for ages and was a mainstay of cooking on the frontier and during the Land Run of 1889.  The ‘89er Celebration Committee, eager to highlight some of the skills and processes of those days gone by, reached out to local Dutch Oven Societies to share  their skills and enthusiasm during the ‘89er Week.

The 89er Days Celebration in Guthrie just got a little ‘classier’ thanks to a new event called the Geezers and Gassers Car Gathering and Poker Walk.

Broadway bridge now open

Broadway bridge is open! Can’t say it simpler than that. As of March 6, motorists may cross the new bridge at Camp and Broadway.

As the end of National Dental Health Month draws to a near I want to discuss a controversial issue.  Why do we need to anesthetize patients for dental cleanings?  There is a group of individuals that exploit fears of anesthesia and are promoting anesthesia free dentistry.  In actuality, performing a dental cleaning without anesthesia is not effective and also potentially dangerous.

Ask Dr. Anna: National Pet Dental Health Month

February is national pet dental health month, so flip your pet’s lip and look for swollen or red gums, discolored teeth and bad breath.  All these are common symptoms of dental disease.  Dental disease is the second most common disease in dogs and cats. Eighty percent of all pets over the age of three usually have periodontal disease.  Oral health affects the entire body!  Bacteria from the periodontal disease is released into the bloodstream and can affect vital organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys.

Crosstown Vet rebuilds and creates jobs

The Logan County Economic Development Council wants to  share good news about business growth and expansion in the region. They spotlight examples of their 26 active loan recipients expansion projects each month, including this one shared in their monthly newsletter.
