Chamber Chat: YMCA offering before and after school care

The YMCA has several things going on for the upcoming school year. They are offering before and after school care along with the PreK Care program! Before and after-school program runs from 6:30am until start of school day and from end of school day to 6:00pm at Cotteral Elementary School. The Kids In Action (KIA) program is offered at Cotteral for the preschool program through the Guthrie Public Schools. Care will not be offered on holidays that the Y is closed or on inclement weather days that the school is closed. These and other similar occurrences have been considered in the pricing; therefore, credits or refunds will not be issued. Applications are available at the Guthrie Y or can be downloaded at YMCAOKC.ORG The YMCA is also hiring Teachers and Counselors. The Guthrie Y is located at 114 E. Oklahoma Ave. 405-282-8206. The Guthrie Farmer’s Market continues every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on First Street between Oklahoma and Harrison Avenue. We have been approved to accept SNAP & EBT cards and are waiting on a machine to take the cards. Our market is a 100 percent homegrown, which means none of our produce is bought from a store; it’s all grown in local gardens! There are other handmade items available like jewelry, quilts, aprons, baked goods and soap. Read more…

Happy Fourth of July!! The merchants are going to have “The Great American Sidewalk Sale” from 10 a.m .to 6 p.m. on the Fourth of July! The General Store located at 113 West Oklahoma Avenue is celebrating their grand opening and have secured PLP Food Truck and music for the day. Many visitors travel during the Fourth of July looking for fun things to do so the merchants thought this would be something new and different. Read more…

Hello! Last Thursday Lucy and I went to an Oklahoma Road Show in Norman at the NCED Conference Center and Hotel. I was told it’s the largest hotel in Oklahoma. It is the training center for the Postal service nationwide.  We had another Road Show in Bartlesville on Tuesday at the Conoco Phillips in the Frank Phillips Tower where Lucy and Pam visited with over 600 people!
