Pat Patton has been named chief operating officer of Mercy Clinic in Oklahoma. He is responsible for leading operations and strategic direction for the group of providers in the 64 Mercy Clinic facilities throughout the state.

Mercy Clinic is a physician-governed group of more than 1,700 medical providers across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, nearly 300 medical professionals belong to Mercy Clinic, from Edmond to Ardmore and Sayre to Sulphur. With access to Mercy’s facilities, electronic health records, telemedicine and each other, Mercy Clinic providers can give their patients the best care available, regardless of the patient’s location. Patients of Mercy Clinic providers can connect to their own health records and health teams anywhere they connect to the Internet.

“We’re thrilled to have Pat join us,” said Dr. Cullen Thomas, president of Mercy Clinic in Oklahoma. “During his time in Springfield he was on the Mercy team of leaders who managed the No. 1 integrated health system in the nation. His expertise will complement our leadership team in Oklahoma well.”

Patton brings more than 23 years of experience to this position, including roles in private and integrated medical groups, hospital operations and federally funded community health centers. He’s worked in rural health and policy development at both state and national levels. Most recently, he served as vice president of surgery for Mercy Clinic in Springfield, Mo., formerly nationally known as St. John’s Clinic.

Patton earned a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s from Wichita State University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a certified member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives.
