One person was killed in an accident involving a travel trailer on I-35 near mile marker 148. Officials say a man’s tire blew out causing him to lose control. He went over the median causing an accident on the other side.

The wreck, that occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m., shut down the southbound lanes, and the inside northbound lane. Traffic was being diverted at Seward Rd.

The interstate was reopened at 7:30 p.m. and was closed for two hours and 19 minutes.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, one of the vehicles involved in the collision  rolled over.

Troopers said McHone was killed when one of his tires blew out causing the vehicle to flip over after going through a cable barrier. An on-going investigation continues, but the vehicle’s tires were in poor condition.

He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown sixty feet from his 2005 Chevrolet box truck.
